Meat & Potatoes

Sunday evening commenced the actual program with a welcome dinner at the hotel restaurant, hosted by the heads of CTU's Nuclear Reactor Department. Tip for newcomers to Prague: the food is heavy! As a native Oregonian and veggie lover, it took some time to adjust to a regular diet of meat, starch, and gravy...but boy, does it hit the spot after a day in the cold!

One of the many great things about this practicum is that it only consists of a dozen students...so we were all able to spend quite a bit of time getting to know each other pretty well! As small a school as MIIS is, I find I rarely get the chance to meet people outside those I see in class every day, so little things like having dinner or breakfast together in the hotel each day was a pleasant way to build relationships with my peers. Who knows - someday we could all be colleagues in the field together!
